WLJ Honored with 2017 Governor’s Arts Award for “Corporate Sponsorship of the Arts”

Wright Lindsey Jennings (WLJ) is honored to be included among the recipients of the 2017 Governor’s Arts Awards by the Arkansas Arts Council. The firm was chosen in the category of “Corporate Sponsorship of the Arts” and nominated by longtime firm partner Central Arkansas Library System (CALS). Specifically the nomination honors WLJ’s continued support of the Arkansas Literary Festival’s Writers in Schools Initiative, which the firm has sponsored for seven years.

WLJ’s support initiated the development of a program which most recently enabled 16 national and international writers, illustrators, journalists and photographers to visit 12 area schools in Central Arkansas, spanning from Arkadelphia to Conway. The program also provided 400 free books to the students in advance of the presenters’ visits so the students could prepare to participate in enriching learning experiences.

Beyond CALS, the firm is dedicated to supporting the arts community throughout Arkansas. WLJ has provided assistance to numerous arts organizations and arts events, including the Arkansas Repertory Theatre, Arkansas Arts Center, Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art, UALR Shakespeare Scene Festival and Riverfest.

Established in 1991, the annual Governor's Arts Awards program recognizes individuals and corporations for their outstanding contributions to the arts in Arkansas. The recipients are nominated by the public and then selected by an independent panel of arts professionals from around the state. Each recipient receives an original work of art created by an Arkansas artist. In 2017, the featured artist was Elizabeth James of Springdale.
