Meredith’s intellectual property practice centers around retail products, which isn’t surprising with the world’s largest retailer in our backyard.

Professional Experience

Meredith Lowry’s practice principally involves acquisition and licensing of various aspects of intellectual property rights for companies working in the retail space.  From the products on the shelf, the packages they go in, and the platforms they’re sold on, Meredith advises businesses on intellectual property concerns and data privacy and security matters.

As a registered patent attorney, Meredith assists a variety of inventors from individual entrepreneurs to large companies in their efforts to obtain patent, trademark and copyright protection. She also works with clients to defend against allegations of infringement and assists in the transfer and licensing of intellectual property rights. She is a frequent speaker and author in the tech and startup space, and spearheaded WLJ’s Woman-Run initiative to support woman- and minority-owned businesses and entrepreneurs through networking, mentorship, education and resources.

As a certified privacy professional, Meredith routinely counsels businesses on regulatory issues relating to consumer and financial data privacy, data security and artificial intelligence. She works with clients to assess their information practices and develop privacy and security programs that comply with U.S. and international laws.

Some of Meredith’s more recent experience includes:

  • Drafting and preparing legislation protecting publicity rights for Arkansas residents.
  • Serving as intellectual property counsel for a leading Southern lifestyle brand.
  • Serving as intellectual property counsel for numerous start-up companies in various fields, including retail, social media and consumer packaged goods.

As a native of Northwest Arkansas, Meredith is an active supporter of the arts and technology communities through her involvement with TheatreSquared and the Scott Family Amazeum.

Recognition

Meredith was recently named by the Women’s Foundation of Arkansas one of the Top 100 Women of Impact in Arkansas and, as a result of the Woman-Run collaboration with TheatreSquared’s Barrier Breakers, Meredith was award the 2023 Entrepreneurship in the Arts Award.

In 2018, Meredith was named the Young Woman of the Year at the 20th Annual NWA Business Women’s Conference, an event hosted by the Greater Bentonville Area Chamber of Commerce. She is a past honoree of the Northwest Arkansas Business Journal’s Forty under 40 in 2014.  In 2021, Meredith was honored by the Northwest Arkansas chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals as the Volunteer of the Year for the work she has done in the community to champion local nonprofits.

Meredith has been included in The Best Lawyers in America® in Patent Law since 2018 and was named a Rising Star by Mid-South Super Lawyers from 2012-2015 in the field of Intellectual Property.

Community Involvement

An active volunteer in Northwest Arkansas, Meredith lends her time to the following committees and organizations: the City of Fayetteville Board of Health, First Community Bank Northwest Arkansas business board, the Fayetteville Leadership planning committee, and Arkansas Advocates for Children and Families Soup Sunday committee in NWA.  In the past, she served as a member of the Greater Bentonville Chamber Board of Directors from 2019 – 2022 and served as past co-chair for that organization’s NWA Tech Summit in 2017 and chair of the Women in Tech conference in 2017 – 2018. She has worked with many nonprofits to support fundraising efforts for those nonprofits, including the Scott Family Amazeum children’s museum, Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art, the Northwest Arkansas Komen affiliate, the Alzheimer’s Association, and the American Diabetes Association.  She was a member of Leadership Arkansas Class XII, a program of the Arkansas State Chamber of Commerce, and a member of Leadership Fayetteville Class XXVIII, a program of the Fayetteville Chamber of Commerce.

Meredith is a frequent speaker nationally on intellectual property topics and women’s entrepreneurship and is an adjunct professor for the Walton College of Business at the University of Arkansas.
